OVERVIEW

First year trainees are required to attend all PG Lectures. 
Second year trainees are required to attend PG lectures, and prepare to train as Journeymen Pruners (JPs).  
JPs perform admin jobs, attend HOs and participate in public outreach.
 

THE STEERING COMMITTEE
• There are three sections of the Steering Committee:

• Admin Co-chairs

• Trainee Co-chairs

• JP Co-chairs​

• Steering Committee Co-Chairs create and refine policy.

• Committee members serve for two years.
• All Co-Chairs recruit JP's as delegees for admin tasks within their areas of responsibility.

• Recruitment usually occurs in May/June/July timeframe.

Note:  All functions listed under each Steering Committee (SC) Co-Chair Role are performed by or under the supervision of the applicable Co-Chair.​

ADMIN CO-CHAIRS

Includes following responsibilities:

• Schedule and run General Admin (Monthly) steering committee meetings

• Create Agenda for SC Meetings with input from JP and Trainee Co-chairs.  

• Budget Manager (Andie Ravas)

Manage creation by 4/1 of annual Pruning Guild Budget, including, with the help of SC, setting tuition and lecture fees.  
Submit the Annual Budget and manage the Bi Annual budget reconciliation  
Prepare Budget reports for Board  
Manage income and payments, including instructor honorariums

• Prepare monthly board activity report (Linda Oqvist)

• Process Honoraria & reimbursements (Betty Jennings)​

Pruning Guild Calendar Managers

• Duties include setting up dates for Lectures & HO Class 

• Recruit and set up Hands On and Lecture instructors beginning in January for next MMG year.  

• Secure lecture class descriptions and bios from lecture presenters.

• Schedule lecture and HO locations. 

Zoom Training Lecture Team

• Manage lectures, including facility, instructors, handouts, a/v equipment, attedance lists, payments to UCCE office

• Registrar: manage VMS and lecture registrations, waitlists and payments, manage lecture feedback (Andie Ravas + David Ross)

• Virtually host Zoom lectures (Linda Stiles)

• Record and store Zoom lectures (Linda Stiles)

• Monitor lecture attendance (Andie Ravas)

• Coordinate Hands On pruning for new member trainees with New Member trainee co-chairs and MAGC Garden Manager & Garden Coordinator.
